Current State of Affairs for Native Americans

What I recall from learning our country’s history is that U.S expansion meant loss of land to Native Americans and not by their willingness but by tricking them and practically pushing Native Americans off of their land.  Not only was there many massacres killing most of their population but Native Americans were also forced to live on reservations because they depended on it due to killings of buffalo among other customs....  After treaties made and laws after the unfair actions of Americans now Federal policies have been improved toward Indian Tribes.

The Senior Adviser's various missions include:
Tribal Liaison—coordinating and communicating all Native American / Indian Country issues directly with Tribes and across all the bureaus within Commerce as well as externally with all other federal agencies;
Tribal Consultation Policy—coordinating and implementing Commerce’s Tribal Consultation Policy Plan and consultation sessions. Serves as the primary contact for all Tribal Consultation actions and issues;
Economic Development—serves as the facilitator of the Office of Native American Business Development by assisting and consulting with Indian Country in leveraging the combined efforts of the federal programs, tribal governments, private sector businesses and financing in order to promote economic growth for Tribes and Native Americans.
Executive Order 13175

Since taking office, President Obama and his Administration have made tremendous progress on the major issues of concern to Indian Country. Underlying this progress is President Obama’s belief that tribal leaders must be part of the solution to problems
